In January of 2011, a police officer in Toronto said, “Women should avoid dressing like sluts in order to not be victimized”. In April, the first SlutWalk was organized in an effort to reclaim the word “slut”; to get the idea across that victims of sexual assault are not to blame, and that any sexual interaction, under any circumstance, should always be consensual. On September 17, 2011, SlutWalk KC took place, bringing together victims and allies in a peaceful rally, spreading awareness and empowerment.
Hey, WBC, maybe you didn't realize it, but soldiers had absolutely nothing to do with the event today.

“Reclaiming a word does not mean celebrating that word in its current form. It means tearing down the ideological underpinnings that give ‘slut’ its stability and laughing at ‘slut’ when it wobbles and falls.”
